Chery Master Pakistan has officially announced the upcoming launch of its flagship C-segment, five-seater plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), the Tiggo 7.
Scheduled for release on April 10, the move marks a significant expansion of the company’s locally assembled new energy vehicle portfolio, solidifying its position as the developer of Pakistan’s largest CKD (completely knocked down) PHEV lineup.
The Tiggo 7 PHEV enters a competitive SUV market as a locally assembled model from its inception. Chery Master Pakistan has targeted deliveries to begin as early as June 2026, depending on booking volumes, signaling an aggressive push to integrate advanced hybrid technology into the domestic automotive landscape.
Economic Efficiency in era of Rising Fuel Costs
The launch arrives at a critical juncture for Pakistani consumers facing volatile fuel prices. The company has positioned the Tiggo 7 PHEV as both a technologically advanced and highly cost-efficient mobility solution. According to the company, the vehicle can reduce fuel costs by more than 70% compared to conventional gasoline SUVs when utilized in pure electric mode for daily commutes.
Beyond individual savings, the company highlighted the broader economic impact, noting that the adoption of such technology contributes to lower national fuel imports and a reduced dependence on imported energy.
Next-Generation Performance and Range
Built on Chery’s fifth-generation Super Hybrid architecture, described by the firm as the world’s best plug-in hybrid technology, the Tiggo 7 PHEV is engineered on a purpose-built platform. The powertrain integrates a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an 18.3 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission.
This sophisticated system delivers a combined output of 255 kW (342 horsepower) and 525 Nm of torque. The vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds. Furthermore, the company stated the vehicle offers:
- Pure Electric Range: Over 90 kilometers (approx. 56 miles) for emission-free city driving.
- Combined Range: Over 1,200 kilometers, ensuring the vehicle is a viable solution for both daily urban commuting and long-distance travel.
Global Pedigree and Premium Features
The Tiggo 7 series is a cornerstone of Chery’s global success, having remained one of China’s best-selling SUVs for four consecutive years. It also stands as one of the most exported models in the brand’s international portfolio.
The Pakistani variant does not skimp on safety or luxury. According to the company, the vehicle is equipped with:
- Eight airbags and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
- A 24.6-inch dual integrated display.
- A premium Sony audio system.
- Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the car to act as a mobile power source.
Strengthening the Local Footprint
Chery has maintained its status as China’s largest automotive exporter for over two decades, with a presence in 120 countries and a user base exceeding 19 million. In Pakistan, the brand operates through Master Auto Engineering, a subsidiary of the Master Group, which brings over 60 years of industrial and automotive expertise to the partnership.
The company confirmed that dealership and aftersales infrastructure have been fully established across the country ahead of the launch, with test drives already available throughout the network.
Market Strategy and Availability
While official pricing and booking details are slated for disclosure on April 10, management indicated that early deliveries are being prioritized. This strategy is intended to “pre-empt potential changes in government policy affecting hybrid vehicles.”
As plug-in hybrid options remain limited in the Pakistani market, the Tiggo 7 PHEV is set to challenge conventional petrol and standard hybrid SUVs by offering a blend of high performance and long-term fuel sustainability.
