A fascinating Cuban Cultural Festival is happening in Islamabad, bringing the best of Cuba’s rich, colorful and lively culture to Pakistan.
To celebrate the rich diversity of the Cuban culture, the Hashoo Group is hosting a two-day Cuban Food Festival in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba. The festival is being at Islamabad Marriott Hotel between 21 to 22 October.
Sponsored by the Turkish Airlines, the first-of-its kind festival kicked off on Saturday, October 21 at the Islamabad Marriott Hotel, offering the citizens of Islamabad and Rawalpindi a slice of Cuban cuisine that combines traditional flavours with a unique flair.
The Cuban Ambassador Gabriel Tiel Capote, the General Manager of the Islamabad Marriott Hotel Roy Kappenberger and the General Manager of the Turkish Airlines Selim Ecrili addressed the media to open the event.
H.E. Gabriel Tiel Capote, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, welcomed and briefed the guests about the event.
“Cuba’s famous musicians, chef and cigar maker are visiting Pakistan for the Cuban cultural festival” the Cuban Ambassador informed. The festival will help bring together the people of Cuba and Pakistan, he said.
“The cultural troupe from Cuba includes 5 renowned musicians, 2 dancers, a chef and a cigar maker,” Geober Guibert Pardo, Head of International Relations, Ministry of Culture of Cuba said.
“Pakistan is a beautiful country with friendly people. We hope to enhance relations with Pakistanis by organizing cultural events” Geober told Islamabad Scene.
The Guest Chef Gioelkis Sosa Hernandez from Cuba and Executive Chef of the IMH Chef Thomas, along with their teams, would offer mothering-watering delights from the exquisite cuisine and extend warm hospitality from Havana to the Pool Terrace of the hotel.
During the festival, only the finest and freshest ingredients will be used to create an exotic menu that combines healthy eating with tasty flavours, bringing native ingredients to serve the most authentic dishes to all lovers of the unique Cuban cuisine.
The mouth-watering delicacies to be served at the festival will include chicken fricassee, breaded shrimp, crevettes, enchilada lobster, steak in casserole to name a few.
Adding to the ambiance, the Cuban performance troupe will enthrall guests with the rhythms of Havana. The dance teacher Reynaldo Baro will delight the audience with a beautiful popular Cuban dance.
The festival would be incomplete without garnering knowledge about the world-famous Cuban cigars. For this reason, guests will have an opportunity to learn about the Cuban cigar at a special cigar-rolling ceremony.
Following the two-day extravaganza in Islamabad, the festival will travel to Karachi Marriot Hotel and Pearl Continental Lahore. It promises to offer the quintessential Cuban experience in all the major cities of Pakistan.
