Diplomats join bike ride by Pakistan Foreign Ministry to raise climate change awareness

The participants included the foreign minister, diplomats, and members of UN agencies among others

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a cycling event under the theme of “Pedal for a Green Future.” Ministry of Climate Change, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and Urban Innovation Pakistan are also associated with this year’s “World Environment Day 2021”. Pakistan is the proud global host of this year’s World Environment Day, which will take place on June 5th.

Led by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, members of the diplomatic corps and UN agencies based in Islamabad, along with representatives from the Foreign Ministry, cycled from D-chowk Constitution Avenue to the Foreign Office Building. The aim of the event was to encourage and promote the use of bicycles for the reduction of carbon footprint, noise pollution and vehicular emission.

Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to in countering the climate crisis, protecting biological diversity, and promoting ecosystem restoration under the Prime Minister’s Vision for an environmentally friendly Pakistan.
