Iran lifts restrictions on Pakistani kinnow imports

FM Qureshi said trade centers will also be set at the Pak-Iran border

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited Iran at the invitation of his counterpart Dr. Javed Zarif and discussed a number of issues of mutual benefit.

The two sides discussed increasing the bilateral trade with Iran lifting the ban on the imports of Pakistan’s world-famous Kinnow (citrus) fruit. The ban has been in place since 2012.

The two sides also agreed to set up trade centers at the border in the near future. Qureshi was pleased with the move as it will boost bilateral trade and help the border residents earn a better means of living.

Pakistan and Iran have maintained a strong relationship over the years though there have been some hiccups. The visit will hopefully smooth things further and both sides can concentrate on improving trade and other areas of mutual benefit.
