Pakistan and Iran also inked an MoU to set up six markets along the border
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi called on the Iranian President Dr. Hassan Rouhani in Tehran and the speaker of the parliament Muhammad Bagher Ghalibaf. The two sides discussed the fraternal ties and their shared history and vowed to further strengthen the relations.
Qureshi appreciated Iran’s consistent stance on the matter of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that boosting ties with Iran is one of the items on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s agenda. He also mentioned that the Mand-Pishin border crossing, which was inaugurated today, will benefit the travelers from both sides. Qureshi invited the Iranian speaker to visit Pakistan to help build stronger parliamentarian ties between the two brotherly countries.
MoU inked for border market places
Pakistan and Iran also signed an MoU for setting up six market places along with the shared border. The idea was first discussed by Imran Khan with the Iranian President during a meeting in 2019. The markets will be established at the border touching the Balochistan province of Pakistan and the Iranian province of Sistan-Baluchestan. Such efforts can help the local traders on both sides in earning a better livelihood and help the local economies at the same time.
