Iran’s FM to arrive for a two-day official visit to Pakistan

He will meet the prime minister and the army chief during the visit

A political-economic delegation from Iran headed by Mohammad Javad Zarif will arrive in Islamabad today. The delegation will be in the country for a two-day long official visit to Pakistan to discuss bilateral issues and key regional developments.

Zarif recently said that high-level talks on important regional and bilateral issues would take place during his stay. He is expected to meet the prime minister as well as the army chief. He also paid tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet of the east.

“High-level talks on bilateral and regional issues will take place in Pakistan on Tuesday with my brothers, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the foreign minister, General Bajwa, the army commander, and Imran Khan, the prime minister,” his tweet read.

Zarif has been serving as the Foreign Minister of Iran since 2013. He is a career diplomat and has held several important positions for his country throughout his career, including Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations from 2002 to 2007.
