Islamabad’s first-ever sightseeing bus launched by PTDC to promote Tourism

The capital city of Islamabad has finally got the long-awaited bright red city tour buses.
Hop on and hop off the bus and enjoy Islamabad’s top places of attraction, including the Faisal Mosque, Lok Virsa and Lake View Park on the newly launched Tour Bus service.
Islamabad’s first City Tour Bus service has been launched by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) to invite local and foreign tourists to enjoy the beauty of twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Islamabad’s first-ever sightseeing bus was launched on January 10 at a colorful ceremony held at the Flashman Hotel in Rawalpindi. Government officials, tourism executives and students attended the ceremony in large number.
Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana and PTDC Managing Director Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor officially inaugurated the buses.
“The launch of Islamabad tour bus is part of a wider project by PTDC to promote tourism” Managing Director of PTDC Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor told Islamabad Scene.
PTDC is striving to launch several tourism projects which include: a tourism TV channel to project the beautiful regions of Pakistan; promotion of religious tourism to attract foreign tourists particularly at the holy places of Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhs in Pakistan; launch of tourism think-thank and tourism police to facilitate foreign tourists.
“PTDC is also planning to launch air safari in Islamabad to promote aviation tourism” Ghafoor shared.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana, said that natural beauty of Pakistan were the best examples of the gifts of God. He said “Terrorism can only be eradicated by promoting tourism” and urged young generation of Pakistan should be involved in adventure and tourism initiatives.
At the end of the ceremony, school students were taken to National Monument and Faisal Mosque on Islamabad City Bus Service. Managing Director of PTDC also launched special Bus service terminal in F-6 Supermarket, Islamabad.

Islamabad Tour Bus details
A total of five buses – 2 big buses and 3 hiace vans – have been introduced initially. “The service will later be extended to Rawalpindi and other cities of Pakistan”, Abdul Ghafoor shared.
The fare of the tour bus is Rs 500 for students and Rs 600 for everyone else. “We will gradually bring the fare down as we extend our services,” a PTDC official said.
The bus route will cover Faisal Masjid, Lake View Park, Lok virsa, National Monument, F-9 Park, Daman e Koh, Bird Aviary, Islamabad Zoo and major food and shopping centres. It will also include the famous Ayub National Park in the historic city of Rawalpindi, while Taxila Museum will be only visited on weekends.
The buses will cover the following city attractions among others:

- National Monument
- Islamabad Zoo
- Lok Virsa
- Daman e Koh
- F9 Park
- Lake View Park
- Ayub Park
- Taxila Museum
