Islamabad’s new state-of-the art hospital to be opened by 2019

Islamabad General Hospital project worth Rs. 2.5 billion is likely to be completed by June 2019.

There is good news for Islamabad citizens. The capital city will soon have a new state of the art equipment equipped with latest technology and facilities.

Islamabad General Hospital will be constructed in Tralai at Tramari Chowk with a land area of 13.07 acres and should be completed by June of 2019.

According to officials from Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), the project is being funded by the Saudi Funds for Development (SFD) through grant assistance of 75 million Saudi Riyal (Rs. 2 billion).

Talking to the media, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) said that the government was very much concerned about the health problems being faces by the people; hence it was decided to construct four new hospitals with modern and latest equipment.

Furthermore, Federal Minister said that the government has already allocated money for speedy completion of this project. About Rs. 100 million have been allocated to the hospital building for this current fiscal year and the Pakistan Public Works Department has already started working on the boundary wall for the hospital.

In addition, a huge amount of Rs. 18 billion has been allocated for completion of various development projects in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

The government has also carefully carried out feasibility checks of completing the started projects or updating those already in place and now PIMS is just waiting for the amount to be given to them to carry on with these projects. Feasibility report has been prepared and the said amount will be released soon in order to improve the health facilities at PIMS, sources added.

During his talk Dr. Tariq Fazal said that, out of the four approved state of the art hospitals to be constructed in Islamabad, three of which would be of 500 beds while one would be of 300 beds.

He said that a 500-bed hospital would be constructed in Model Town, Humak at Islamabad highways junction for which 160 kanal of land has already been acquired.

The minister said that the second 500-bed hospital would be built at around 170/180 kanal of land at Kuri Road.

He further stated another 500-bed hospital would either be constructed in I-12 or H-11.
