“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” ― Mark Twain

All the goodness which is obvious in this world comes from a special source which is known as kindness. Soft spoken words when uttered heal the torn souls, repair old wounds and give life to broken hearts. It transforms the poor to rich, the coward to fearless, the inferior to superior, the miser to magnanimous, the old to young. It elevates the status of anyone who comes in its way. Kindness actually dwells in the heart of wise and fortunate one.

Has someone ever wondered why it rains after sweltering weather? Why the sky gets rainbow after it rains? Why cool air often blows in after hot weather? Why the birds tweet in their melodious tone in early morning? Why are there white blossom on the trees in spring? Why is there happiness and tranquillity on the faces around you?

It’s all because kindness has rewarded them out of its treasured blessings.

When the heart is filled up with remorse and melancholy, there is always one power that comes to our help. Allah Almighty, the most kind, always picks us up. We think we will never raise our head again but His kind gaze soothes our soul. He compensates us for the loss and gives us another chance to relive our life with greater fervour and passion.

When it keeps happening, the hearts loose warmth and love for each other. They become harsh towards each other. The angels of love and peace curse those hearts which are devoid of love and respect. They no longer visit us. Then is the time that life becomes dreary and dull. It becomes dark with the harshness of words coming from the mouth of rude. Then is the time when all the beauty vanishes from the earth. You search for it, you yearn for it but you remain deprived of that kindness, love, empathy and respect and all you get from your surrounding is apathy, hatred, disrespect and callousness.

But why we should wait for that unfortunate moment in our life? Why not follow the footsteps of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) whose kind deeds turned his enemies into companions. Hazrat Anas (R.A.) who was his helper, said: “I served Allah’s Messenger for ten years and he never said to me, ‘Shame’ or ‘Why did you do such-and-such a thing?’ or ‘Why did you not do such-and-such a thing?’” (Bukhari, 2038).

Likewise we should forget the mistakes of others and try to rebuild our relationship with people around us with kindness and empathy. We should experience the magic of kindness and compassion by being polite to the people who are not likewise with us. The treasure of kindness is waiting to be explored to make our life healthier and happier both mentally and spiritually. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) mentioned kindness in the following words:

“Be kind, for whenever kindness becomes part of something, it beautifies it. Whenever it is taken from something, it leaves it tarnished”.
