As the preparations for the 69th Independence Day are in full swing in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the government has planned massive security arrangements.
SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has chalked out a comprehensive plan on the occasion of Independence Day and decided to deploy security personnel at important installations as well as the public places too.
The SSP has directed all SDPOs and SHOs to conduct special search and checking at slums, private hostels, inns and restaurants in their respective areas, police sources said.
At least 2500 police officers would perform security duties and the city has been divided into various beats while additional strength has been deployed at main shopping centers at markets.
Likewise, special contingents have been also deployed at Dhokri chowk, Korian Wala Chowk, French embassy chowk and Kashmir Chowk.
“Additional heavy contingents will be deployed at all public places, especially parks and various other important spots. The capital police would try best to deliver their duties with discipline on the auspicious occasion”, according to news reports.
The sources said that SPs would monitor security duties in their respective areas while alert to be maintained at high security zone. The unpaved routes in red zone would be sealed while private and official guards would be checked along with VIPs.
The city’s forested areas will be scanned with sophisticated security equipment while security personnel on horses will patrol the city.
he SSP said that police commandos, lady police, mobile patrolling and eagle squad, Anti-terror squad, Bomb Disposal Squad, Quick Response Force Unit have been also activated while special branch, traffic police and CID staff would perform duties on the occasion.
Mobile Reserve police will also remain alert while contingents of Rangers and FC will also perform security duties on the occasion.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, the Ministry of Interior and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have decided to suspend cellular services on August 14 from 6am to 12 noon “to avert any untoward incident”.
Islamabad braces for political power shows on Independence Day
Meanwhile, twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are alsobracing for political power show. The ruling government PML-N, as well as the PTI and its ally the Awami Muslim League (AML), are finalising arrangements for their respective public rallies, to be held on the eve of Independence Day in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
