Pak-Qatar IT Tower inaugurated in Islamabad

The inauguration of the Pak-Qatar IT Tower in Islamabad marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s technological advancement.

Located in the Gulberg Greens area, this state-of-the-art facility, which was officially integrated on May 16, 2024, aims to become a hub for technological innovation and entrepreneurship.

The collaborative project, spearheaded by Pak-Qatar Group, Nucleus, and Ejad Labs, is poised to become a central hub for the IT sector, creating numerous job opportunities and stimulating economic growth.

The inauguration event was attended by distinguished guests, including government officials and industry leaders, who celebrated the building’s potential to transform Islamabad into a leading tech-savvy city. The guests included IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Director of Pak-Qatar Takaful Group Zeeshan Afzal, CEO of Ejad Labs Arzish Azam, and Chairman of Nucleus Group Arsalan Janjua among other dignitaries.

This initiative not only underscores the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Qatar but also aligns with the government’s vision to digitize the economy and enhance the nation’s IT infrastructure.

“Pak-Qatar IT Tower is more than just a building, it is a symbol of technological progression and bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to transform Islamabad into a tech-savvy city, equipped to meet the demands of the modern world,” according to the official statement.

Key Highlights of Pak-Qatar IT Tower

  • Spread over 120,000 sq ft, this state-of-the-art facility, currently under development, will be located in the Gulberg Greens neighborhood of Islamabad.
  • The Pak-Qatar IT Tower is a collaborative effort between the Pak-Qatar Group, Nucleus, and Ejad Labs.
  • Ejad Labs has committed to establishing 40 IT parks across Pakistan with the inauguration of this flagship project.

IT sector uplift a key priority for Govt: Minister Shaza Fatima

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized the government’s priority on IT development and welcomed the investment by the Pak-Qatar Group.

“The development of the IT sector is the first priority,” the minister said, adding that the Pak-Qatar Group’s initiative would help uplift the IT infrastructure in Pakistan.

During the ceremony, Shaza Khawaja emphasized the numerous opportunities available for youth in the technological era, noting the government’s National Digitalization Plan aimed at digitizing the economy, governance, and society. “Digitalization will ensure transparency and facilitation for the masses,” she added.

Khawaja also stressed the need for better IT and telecommunication infrastructure and connectivity, and welcomed foreign investment from Qatar, citing the conducive atmosphere for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan.

Pak-Qatar Group has been a pioneer in the Takaful industry in Pakistan, providing Shari’ah-compliant financial solutions and contributing to the growth and stability of the financial sector in the country.

Mars BPO’s new branch in Islamabad to create 1000 jobs

On the same day was the inauguration of the latest branch of Mars BPO, a leader in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry, at the Business Square in Gulberg Greens. The opening ceremony was officiated by IT Minister Shaza Khawaja.

Founded by entrepreneur Shoaib Akram, Mars BPO has grown significantly over the past decade, now employing over 2,000 professionals. The new branch, Mars Capital, marks a significant expansion for the company, and the BPO industry in Pakistan.

During the inauguration ceremony, Shoaib Akram highlighted the company’s vision for expansion, and he presented new ideas to broaden Mars’ footprint across Pakistan and beyond. “The inauguration of Mars Capital marks a significant milestone in our journey, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to expansion and excellence. As we embark on this new chapter, we invite the youth to join us in shaping the future of the BPO industry, where opportunities abound and potential knows no bounds,” he said.

Mars Capital is set to generate over 1000 new jobs, with a strong focus on youth and women empowerment.

During the ceremony, Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja praised Mars BPO for its role in driving economic development and job creation in Pakistan.

“The expansion of Mars BPO reflects the dynamism and growth potential of Pakistan’s BPO industry .. creating new opportunities and contributing to the country’s economic development,” Shaza said, adding that she looks forward to witnessing the positive impact Mars Capital would have on job creation and the empowerment of youth and women in the ICT sector.

The Minister was briefed on the services and opportunities provided by Mars BPO, expressing her support for the industry’s potential to generate employment and contribute to economic growth. She reiterated the government’s commitment to the BPO sector, highlighting its strategic importance and potential for further growth under the Ministry of IT & Telecom’s vision.
