Pakistan Airports Authority to build 25-storey energy-efficient headquarters in Islamabad

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has received approval for the construction of a cutting-edge, energy-efficient 25-storey headquarters in Islamabad’s Blue Area.

This ambitious project promises to redefine the city’s skyline and set a new standard for corporate infrastructure in Pakistan.

In a recent meeting of the Design Vetting Committee (DVC) held at the CDA Secretariat, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) officially approved the architectural design for the PAA’s new headquarters. The design, developed by the renowned engineering consultancy firm NESPAK, was presented and reviewed by senior officials from both the CDA and PAA. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Khalid Hafiz, Member for Planning and Design at the CDA, with other key PAA representatives in attendance.

“The architectural design presented by NESPAK reflects a forward-thinking approach to corporate infrastructure, incorporating sustainable elements while enhancing the aesthetic value of the city,” said a spokesman for the PAA.

Spanning 1,240,990 square feet, the new PAA headquarters will include six basement levels for parking, providing ample space for employees and visitors. One of the standout features is a striking central atrium that will extend from the ground floor to the rooftop, filling the building with natural light and creating an open, airy environment.

The building’s design includes a curved facade with double-glazed curtain walls, enhancing energy efficiency by reducing heat loss and improving insulation. Additionally, the incorporation of green courtyards will provide a refreshing outdoor space within the building, promoting sustainability and offering a serene environment for staff.
