The Chinese Embassy hosted a reception titled “China-Pakistan Unbreakable Friendship and the Bright Future” on May 19 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
The reception celebrated the strong and enduring bond between China and Pakistan, highlighting the achievements of their diplomatic relations over the past 72 years. It emphasized the shared commitment to development, peace, and regional connectivity, paving the way for a brighter future of cooperation and friendship.
Distinguished guests including H.E. Ms. Pang Chunxue, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, H.E. Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, and H.E. Mr. Mazhar Javed, Director General of Foreign Service Academy, attended the event. Former Pakistani Ambassadors to China, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistani young diplomats, and Chinese diplomats were also present.
Strengthening the Historical Bond
Ms. Pang emphasized the profound historical roots, solid public support, and practical needs that define the China-Pakistan relationship. Under President Xi Jinping’s leadership, China is steadfastly advancing its modernization process, providing new opportunities for countries like Pakistan. Both countries are committed to exploring development paths that suit their national conditions and maintaining global peace and stability, said Ms. Pang.
Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC Milestones
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Ms. Pang recognized the fruitful outcomes achieved through joint efforts under the CPEC, which have significantly contributed to Pakistan’s economic and social development, infrastructure improvement, and regional connectivity. CPEC has become a symbol of China-Pakistan cooperation.
Continuity in China-Pakistan Friendship
Ms. Pang also appreciated the diplomatic efforts of both countries and the contributions made by successive generations of diplomats. China is committed to implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of China and Pakistan, further promoting their enduring friendship, she highlighted.
Acknowledging Diplomatic Contributions
Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed Khan also commended the contributions of generations of diplomats from both countries, acknowledging their role in fostering the unbreakable friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan. He expressed gratitude for China’s support in matters of sovereignty, independence, financial stability, and infrastructure development.
Nurturing Future Diplomatic Ties
Dr. Mazhar Javed, DG Foreign Service Academy, highlighted the valuable opportunities for exchange and learning between the younger generation in both countries. He emphasized the importance of strengthening the understanding of the unbreakable China-Pakistan relationship among young diplomats. Dr. Javed expressed hope that the young diplomats would continue to foster the traditional friendship and contribute to the further development of China-Pakistan relations.
The reception was preceded by a display of photographs showcasing the history of China-Pakistan friendship and the transformation of the Chinese Embassy compound. Traditional Chinese tea ceremony performances and the opportunity to make dumplings further added to the warm and harmonious atmosphere.
