Pakistan and Turkiye Air Force chiefs discuss Aerospace and Tech collaboration

Pakistan and Turkiye air force chiefs discussed joint ventures and future collaboration between the two air forces during the official visit of Commander of the Turkish Air Force General Ziya Cemal Kadioğlu to Islamabad on October 18, 2023.

General Ziya Cemal Kadioğlu and his delegation engaged in high-level discussions at Air Headquarters with Pakistan Air Force Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu.

The discussions during this significant meeting spanned a wide range of topics, including the geo-strategic landscape, the progress of ongoing collaborative projects, and the exploration of new avenues for cooperation within the aviation industry. Both officials exchanged valuable insights regarding the operational training of their respective air forces, with a special focus on PAF’s mega aerial exercise ‘Indus Shield 2023’, which has garnered global attention.

The visiting dignitary emphasized that Exercise Indus Shield, hosted by PAF, would further strengthen the bond of brotherhood and military ties between Pakistan and Turkey while enhancing the operational readiness of their air forces.

Training programs and strategic collaboration

A guard of honor from the Pakistan Air Force welcomed General Ziya Cemal Kadioğlu upon his arrival.

During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu shared PAF’s comprehensive modernization strategy, which includes acquiring advanced technological equipment from allied nations, strengthening vital infrastructure, and restructuring training programs to address contemporary air warfare challenges.

The Air Chief expressed his appreciation for the participation of the Turkish Air Force in Exercise Indus Shield and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in military-to-military cooperation, strategic collaboration, and training. He noted that PAF pilots are actively involved in providing essential training to Turkish aircrew and underscored PAF’s dedication to enhancing the capabilities of the Turkish Air Force.

Aerospace tech collaboration

On his first visit to Pakistan, General Ziya Cemal Kadioğlu commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force and acknowledged its increasing indigenous capabilities in the aviation sector. He expressed keen interest in joint ventures in the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park.

During his visit, General Kadioğlu had the opportunity to tour various installations and technological infrastructure at Air Headquarters, including PAF’s National ISR and Integrated Air Operations Centre and PAF’s Cyber Command. His visit to the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park showcased Pakistan’s progress in aerospace technology and its potential to contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

The Turkish Air Force Commander’s visit underlines the unwavering commitment of both countries to reinforce their strategic partnership through collaboration and the promotion of strong relations between their respective air forces.
