Pakistanis denounce raid in which Israeli forces used stun grenades at worshippers
Pakistan government strongly condemned the attacks on innocent worshippers in AlAqsa Mosque by the Israeli occupation forces that injured more than 200 Palestinians.
“Such attacks, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan are against all humanitarian norms and human rights laws,” Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.
“We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured, reiterate our steadfast support to the Palestinian cause, and once again urge the international community to take prompt action to protect the Palestinian people.”
Pakistani officials reminded the international community that a two-state solution in accordance with the relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions, with the pre-1967 borders, and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of a viable, independent and contiguous Palestinian State is the only wat towards lasting peace in the region.
President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi said it was a shame that the Israeli apartheid continued against the Palestinian people and regretted that the atrocious attack on peaceful praying Muslims in Palestine was given the usual media spin of ‘clashes’.
“My brothers don’t lose hope. Time is near when international politics will be based on morality and not on vested interests,” the president said.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the attack on Palestinians. “We reiterate support for Palestinian people” PM Khan said urging the international community must take immediate action to protect the people of Palestine and their rights.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also condemned the attack on innocent worshippers in Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli forces in the holy month of Ramadan. “Such brutality is against very spirit of humanity & human rights law.”
More than 205 people were injured in Israeli attacks at Al Aqsa Mosque, the Damascus Gate of the Old City, and Sheikh Jarrah district on Friday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
The protests came as the Israeli court approved a decision to evict seven Palestinian families from their homes in favor of Israeli settlers.
Israeli police used rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades to disperse worshippers inside Al Aqsa Mosque compound on the last Friday of Ramadan. Al-Aqsa Mosque is the world’s third-holiest site for Muslims.
