PM Khan calls Palestine’s Mahmoud Abbas to reaffirm Pakistan’s steadfast support

Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle.

The prime minister held a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the worsening situation in Palestine.

PM Khan reassured President Abbas of Pakistan’s efforts in mobilizing the international community against flagrant violations of human rights and international law by Israel. He reaffirmed Pakistani leadership’s complete support during this time of crisis.

The Pakistani leader strongly condemned the attacks on innocent worshippers in Al Aqsa Mosque and lethal airstrikes by Israel in Gaza, resulting in the death of several civilians, including children.

Israeli bombings and attacks in the occupied West Bank and Gaza have killed at least 137 Palestinians, including 36 children, and wounded 920 since Monday. The UN has said it estimates that nearly 10,000 Palestinians have left their homes in Gaza amid the Israeli offensive.

President Abbas welcomed Pakistan’s support and appreciated Pakistani leadership’s response and statements condemning Israel’s attacks in Gaza and Al Aqsa Mosque. He briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the most recent developments and exchanged views on future actions.

Pakistani leadership recently also discussed the Palestine situation with Turkey. The two leaders “vowed to work together especially at the United Nations in jointly mobilizing the international community” to stop Israeli attacks.

Pakistan and Turkey would be working closely together to raise the Palestinian issue at the international level.

Turkey’s President Erdogan has called fro sending an international force to Palestine to protect the civilian population from Israeli attacks.
