Pakistan sends sixth tranche of humanitarian aid to Gaza

Pakistan has dispatched its sixth consignment of humanitarian aid to Gaza for Palestinians, the country’s disaster management authority said on Tuesday (February 6).

The relief items were sent as Palestinians continue to face air and ground assaults by the Israeli military in Gaza. Israel has killed over 27,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, according to official figures shared by the Palestinian health ministry. Thousands more have been injured as Israel continues to ignore international calls for a ceasefire.

“This sixth relief consignment comprises 100 tons of assistance including 30 tons of blankets, special winterized family tents and 70 tons of medicines and tinned food items as per needs at Gaza,” the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

Officials of the NDMA, Pakistani foreign ministry and the Palestinian Ambassador in Pakistan, Ahmed Rebai, attended the sending-off ceremony of a civil cargo plane that carried the relief items for the people of Gaza, at the Karachi airport.

The authority said it collaborated with the leading Pakistani non-governmental organization, Alkhidmat Foundation, to arrange the relief items.

The NDMA had earlier sent five relief consignments comprising 230 tons of aid which included special winterized tents, blankets, surgical supplies, medicines, and food packs.
