Pakistan to open its new consulate in Germany to boost economic potential
Pakistan will open its new consulate in Germany soon to tap economic potential with Germany. The announcement was made by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who is on an official visit to Germany.
Qureshi said Pakistan and Germany had high prospects of cooperation in trade and investment and expressed confidence that the new consulate would speed up the development in this regard.
The consul general would soon be appointed at the Munich mission to supplement the diplomatic efforts of embassy in Berlin.
In a meeting with a representative delegation of the Pakistani diaspora in Germany, FM Qureshi acknowledged the services of the Pakistani community, terming them an important linkage for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He also said that the government was working on mechanics to give the right of vote to the Pakistanis living abroad.
During his visit to Pakistan embassy in Berlin, the foreign minister and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany Dr Muhammad Faisal inaugurated a ‘Football Enclave’ at the embassy marking the export of 50 million footballs from Pakistan to Germany annually.
Pakistani foreign minister said he had a productive meeting with his German counterpart Heiko Maas, adding that the two countries were taking their bilateral and economic cooperation to a new level. Pakistan is eager to explore and expand cooperation with Germany particularly in areas of information technology, solar energy and electric vehicles.
