Pakistan to receive several million COVID vaccines in April, says PM’s aide

Pakistan will receive these vaccines from two different Chinese manufacturers as the government also allows private import of the vaccines

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan said several million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in the country next month. These will include vaccines from SinoPharm and CanSino. Chinese government previously gifted a half a million doses of the SinoPharm vaccine as well.

“Our Covid vaccine drive continues. Orders placed for purchase of Covid vaccines (Sinopharm, 1 million doses; CanSino, 60,000 doses). Arrival expected within days. Several million additional doses in the pipeline for April,” he said on Twitter.

The PM’s aide also spoke to World Health Organization (WHO) chief Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for ensuring adequate and consistent availability of the vaccine across the globe. He thanked for his support.

The government of Pakistan has also allowed private enterprises to import vaccines in order to accelerate the process of vaccination.
