The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan crossed the 4,000 mark, according to the official COVID platform by country’s Health Ministry.
At least 58 people with the virus have died. The cases have nearly doubled since March 31 when the total confirmed cases were nearly 2039. The total number of recovered patients is over 400.
As of April 8 evening, the national tally stood at 4,183 with Punjab accounting for more than half of the cases with over 2,132 cases.
Sindh has nearly 1,000 cases, whereas Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have 500 and 202 cases, respectively. A total of 211 cases have been reported from Gilgit-Baltistan and 28 in Azad Kashmir, while Islamabad has 83 reported infections so far.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the nation to understand the gravity and seriousness of the coronavirus situation and show responsibility by adopting the precautionary measures such as handwashing and social distancing to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
