Pakistan Sports Board and HEC to establish country’s first Sports University to hone talent of athletes

The capital city of Islamabad will soon have country’s first Sports University. Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Sports Boards (PSB) have joined hands and sorted out modalities for the Sports University to be established at Islamabad Sports Complex.
The institute would facilitate sports environment in a country brimming with sports talent. The University would guide local athletes to excel in their respective games and help them in achieving qualities of the leadership, sharing, team spirit and tolerance from the sports.
Pakistan’s maiden Sports University is planned to be constructed in the capital city Islamabad. The decision was taken after HEC and PSB realized that sports education and academic learning are the complements pillars of each other.
PSB Director General Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera informed that land has been allocated in Islamabad Sports Complex for the establishment of the Sports University that would be first of its kind in Pakistan.
“We have sorted out modalities with HEC that has given its approval for establishment of the Sports University. The world renowned sports personalities and lecturers would be invited to interact with the local sports persons and help them walk with latest trends in the world,” he said.
Dr. Akhtar Ganjera said the main focus of this initiative is to help the sports persons understand relationship between exercise and human body, at a cellular level and with regard to the impact on the body as a whole.
The Sport University would have state-of-the-art building with world class conference rooms, classrooms, halls, grounds with playing, food courts and auditorium.
PSB Director General said that the construction work on Sports University would be initiated soon at Islamabad Sports Complex.
The institute will also conduct training workshops for the sports persons as well as coaches to help them excel in their respective fields.
