PM Imran Khan to launch first Islamabad Security Dialogue

Islamabad Security Dialogue to unveil Pakistan’s new economic-strategic direction

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the country’s first-ever security conference to discuss opportunities for collaboration on national security issues.

Islamabad Security Dialogue would unveil Pakistan’s new strategic direction based on a comprehensive security framework in line with PM Imran Khan’s vision of peace, regional connectivity and development partnerships with the world.

PM Khan will inaugurate the conference while Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa will be the guest of honor on the second day of the summit.

“The Islamabad Security Dialogue is Pakistan’s premier forum that brings together global and local intelligentsia to debate Pakistan’s critical national security issues, and generate ideas shaping global society and the future of human civilization” according to the official statement.

The two-day conference (March 17-18) has been organized by the country’s National Security Division (NSD) in collaboration with its advisory board comprising five leading think tanks: Center for Aerospace and Security Studies (CASS), Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), National Defence University (NDU)’s Institute of Strategic Studies, Research and Analysis (ISSRA), Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) and Institute of Strategic Studies (ISSI).

A first-of-its-kind advisory portal of the National Security Division will be launched at the event which is designed to bridge the traditional gap between public intellectuals and policymakers. “The portal will allow national think tanks and universities working on national security to directly offer policy recommendations to the government.”

The dialogue will bring together current and former both local and global officials, diplomats and policy experts to debate Pakistan’s national security as well economic and human security, focusing primarily on regional peace and security.

Islamabad Security Dialogue will be held annually to discuss challenges and opportunities for Pakistan for an informed policymaking.
