Prince William and Kate Middleton to visit Pakistan this fall for the first time
Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to visit Pakistan in the fall, Kensington Palace announced.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official visit to Pakistan at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office,” a statement from the palace read. “The visit will take place in the Autumn.”
This will mark the couple’s first visit to Pakistan, however, their royal family members have been to the South Asian country before. Queen Elizabeth II visited Pakistan in 1961 and 1997. Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall travelled to the country in 2006.
William’s mother and Princess of Wales, Diana, visited Pakistan several times through her charity work.
It’s currently unknown if the royal couple’s three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — will join them on the Pakistan tour.
The news of the visit comes days after the announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be embarking on a tour of Africa, also in the autumn.

The High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria said the government and people of Pakistan warmly welcome the announcement that Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit Pakistan in the coming months.
“The people of Pakistan still cherish and fondly recall the visits of Her Majesty The Queen to Pakistan during 1961 and 1997,” he said.
“The upcoming royal visit is a reflection of the importance the United Kingdom attaches to its relations with Pakistan.
“The two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further.”
More than 1.5 million people of Pakistani origin currently live in the UK, with 270,000 British nationals visiting the country every year.
Pakistan is home to K2 – the world’s second highest mountain and breathtaking natural beauty.
