The areas have been sealed due to the high number of cases reported.
Islamabad’s administration has decided to seal nine areas in the federal capital after a surge in coronavirus cases. COVID-19 is on the rise all over the country and Islamabad has also experienced a spike in positive cases in recent days. The orders were given out by the district magistrate.
The sealed areas include Huawei Tech., Saudi Pak Tower, Blue Area, Islamabad; Pakistan Sports Board; Gulrajgan, Chattha Bakhtawar; street No. 13-C, National Police Foundation, E-11/4, Islamabad; main street No. 26, sub-street 110, sector I-10/4; street No. 111, sector G-9/4; street No. 54, sector G-7/2; Block No. 6, PWD Colony; and street No. 62, sector G-6/4, Islamabad.
So far, there have been 3,946 cases in Islamabad. The number of active cases is still over 3,200 while 629 residents have fully recovered. There have also been 41 deaths in Islamabad.
There are stringent SOPs in place for operations of business in the city. However, many businesses are not following the procedures, which has led to fines and closures. 83 shops and 22 industrials units have been sealed due to violations of the SOPs. 115 individuals have also been fined by the local authorities. Barakahu and New Aabpara areas have been completely sealed as well.
The government has made it mandatory for the residents of Islamabad to wear a facemask every time they go out. The government has also asked the different business establishments to not serve to people without a facemask.
