The Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) has announced a major partnership with Tech7 (Private) Limited, a project of J7 Emporium Group, to launch Pakistan’s first Green Tech Hub in Islamabad.

This partnership, backed by a Rs. 15 billion investment, aims to create a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold-certified design, carbon-neutral Special Technology Zone (STZ) in Islamabad’s B-17 sector, positioning Pakistan as a regional hub for innovation, technology, and sustainability.

Vision for Sustainable Growth and Innovation

With a massive investment of Rs. 15 billion, the Tech7 Special Technology Zone will span 1.1 million square feet and will be built to the highest environmental standards, including LEED Gold certification (green building certification). This ambitious project aims to establish a sustainable ecosystem that caters to the growing needs of the technology sector while driving economic growth in the country.

The zone will offer cutting-edge infrastructure, including research labs, high-speed connectivity, coworking and co-living spaces, and modern office facilities designed to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. The project is expected to attract additional investments of up to Rs. 12 billion from local and international tech companies in the coming years, positioning the zone as a magnet for talent, investors, and businesses alike.

Boost to Pakistan’s Technology and Startup Ecosystem

Tech7’s partnership with STZA aligns perfectly with the government’s vision to promote sustainable economic growth through technological innovation. The initiative is designed to provide a conducive environment for the next generation of technology entrepreneurs, offering fiscal incentives, regulatory support, and a globally competitive ecosystem to nurture innovation.

According to STZA Chairman Azfar Mansoor, this partnership represents a significant leap towards realizing Pakistan’s potential as a digital economy leader. He reaffirmed STZA’s commitment to necessary support in the development and operation of the zone. He added that they will provide full-fledged support to ensure the success of this initiative.

Job Creation and Foreign Investment

The Tech7 STZ is expected to have a profound impact on Pakistan’s economy by creating job opportunities, boosting foreign investments, and promoting the development of new technologies. The project will also provide a platform for local tech companies to scale and grow, contributing to Pakistan’s export potential, with an estimated contribution of $50 million to $100 million in annual exports.

Chairman of J7 Emporium Group, Maqbool Hussain, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “It is our good fortune to have entered into this agreement with STZA. This agreement will definitely aid Pakistan’s economy by nurturing young talent, developing and specializing in new technologies and boosting cross service agreement. All of this will contribute in driving economic growth of the Country. He also emphasized the importance of STZA’s support for other commercial projects.”

The CEO of J7 Group, Yaseen Masud, added that despite the economic challenges Pakistan has faced in recent years, the J7 Emporium has remained committed to fulfilling our clients’ and investors’ expectations. This partnership with STZA will further strengthen our brand and build trust among investors, ensuring the growth of both the Tech7 Special Technology Zone and Pakistan’s economy, he added.

Drawing inspiration from successful global technology hubs, the Tech7 STZ aspires to position Pakistan as a leader in the digital economy. With a focus on sustainability, innovation, and youth empowerment, the project will serve as a model for future tech developments across the country.

The development of the Tech7 Special Technology Zone is part of STZA’s broader mission to create an enabling environment for technology and entrepreneurship, which includes simplifying regulatory frameworks and providing fiscal incentives. By offering world-class infrastructure and a supportive ecosystem, STZA aims to make Pakistan an attractive destination for global tech companies, positioning it at the forefront of technological innovation in Asia and the Middle East.
