The SUV will offer the most features available in the international models for very competitive prices
Pakistan’s Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) market has further heated up with the arrival of the Proton X70. Al-Haj group has partnered with the Malaysian automaker Proton to offer the latter’s products in Pakistan. The vehicles will be available to the public in the second quarter of 2021. The product’s launch ceremony was webcast on Facebook, and celebrities Ali Ansari and Naveen Waqar hosted the event.
The main competitors for the X70 include Hyundai Tucson, the Kia Sportage, DFSK Glory 580, and MG HS. The SUV variants will carry a price tag between 4.7 million rupees and 5.4 million rupees.
Main specification of X70
Two X70 variants will be the Executive All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and the Premium Front Wheel Drive (FWD). Both of them will have a jointly developed by Volvo and Geely 1.5L with a turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine with 176 horsepower (hp) and 255 Nanometer (Nm) torque. The vehicles will also have an anti-lock braking system (ABS) on all models. The SUV will have an eco-mode for better fuel consumption as well as a sports driving mode.
Features offered in the SUV include steering wheel controls, a push-start button, welcome lights, power-folding mirrors, day-night rearview mirror, power windows, power driver-adjustable + ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control.
Safety features
The safety features will include six airbags, ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), traction control, among others. The vehicle will also have 4 Cameras with 360-degree coverage. Many manufacturers strip-down imported products’ features and sell them “packages” for high costs.
Entertainment features
However, it was revealed that most features from the international models would be maintained in the SUV. An eight-inch touch screen infotainment system will be available in all models. Vice commands, 4G Wifi system and a GSM Sim slot, will be available as well. High-quality speakers will also be available on both variants.
The introduction of X70 will further add competitiveness to the growing SUV market in Pakistan. More options available in the market will allow consumers to make better choices and look beyond the typically overpriced SUVs from a couple of manufacturers who’ve held the consumers hostage.
