PIA flight attendant Touheed went above and beyond to calm a crying baby on flight
When the PIA flight attendant Touheed Ahmad Daudpota saw a baby crying during the flight, he went above and beyond to make sure the little one happy and chill during the flight.
PIA crew member Touheed Daudpota was on the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Islamabad to Karachi on March 11 when he noticed a baby that won’t stop crying. He immediately picked the toddler up and offered him comfort, offering the much-needed relief to the stressed-out mother who was traveling alone with two little ones.
The video of the Pakistani flight attendant calming the toddler went viral on social media, winning him praises from all over the country as he was hailed a ‘hero’.
The small act of kindness won him recognition from the UN Women Pakistan that declared him a HeForShe Champion “for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect and care” to a woman passenger.
This video shared by PIA showed that he was awarded UN Women Pakistan medal.
Daudpota who hails from Shikarpur in Sindh province, said he offered help after two women cabin crew could not calm down the sobbing baby. “When I took him on the shoulder, he calmed soon after and then slept,” the he said.
Thanking the people and UN for recognizing his act of kindness, he said that he did nothing spectacular but only his job of ensuring comfort of the passengers.
Daudpota said he was grateful to receive the UN Women’s recognition that endorses gender equality and hoped it will change social norms that make childcare solely a woman’s job. “Children are as much the responsibility of fathers as of mothers,” he said, urging more Pakistani fathers to be actively involved in parenting.
