Pakistan marked a major milestone in its sporting history with the successful hosting of its first-ever open water Olympic triathlon, the Activit Margalla Triathlon 2026, at the picturesque Gulberg Greens Lake Front in Islamabad.
The landmark event brought together hundreds of athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across the country for an intense test of endurance featuring swimming, cycling, and running. The triathlon transformed the capital into a center of high-performance athletics, community engagement, and outdoor sporting excellence.
Organized by Margalla Trail Runners (MTR) and powered by Activit, the competition highlighted the growing popularity of multisport disciplines in Pakistan and reflected increasing public interest in fitness-focused events.
Founded by Javed Ali, MTR is an endurance sports community focused on promoting trail running, marathons, and multisport competitions in Pakistan to foster a culture of health, fitness, and elite athletic performance through community-driven sporting initiatives.

Festival Atmosphere at Gulberg Greens
The atmosphere at Gulberg Greens Lake Front remained energetic throughout the competition, with large crowds of friends and family members cheering on participants.
Beyond athletic competition, the event served as a broader celebration of healthy living and endurance sports. Organizers emphasized the importance of promoting active lifestyles and creating opportunities for athletes to compete at a professional level within Pakistan.
The successful execution of the triathlon was credited to the efforts of the organizing team, with special recognition given to Javed Ali, Founder of Margalla Trail Runners, whose vision helped bring the historic event to life.
Tribute to Pakistan’s Soldiers
In a symbolic gesture, the first-ever open water Olympic triathlon in Pakistan was dedicated to the bravery of Pakistan’s soldiers, honoring those who “raised the national flag to new heights last year during Marka-e-Haq.”
Organizers said the determination and resilience demonstrated by athletes throughout the competition reflected the spirit of national excellence and perseverance.
