Changan begins local assembly of NEVO Hunter 4×4 Pickup in Pakistan at Rs 10.99 million

Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML) has started local assembly of the NEVO Hunter, a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) 4×4 pickup truck, at its Karachi manufacturing facility, with customer deliveries now underway following a production rollout ceremony on October 27, 2026.

Launched at an introductory price of Rs10,990,000, the Hunter is described by the company as Pakistan’s first locally assembled REEV 4×4 truck. Master Changan says bookings have filled its available allocation through February 2027.

The development marks Changan’s entry into Pakistan’s electrified pickup segment under its NEVO brand, bringing electric-motor propulsion and an onboard petrol-powered range extender to the local truck market.

Changan establishes dedicated REEV assembly line in Pakistan

The NEVO Hunter is the first vehicle introduced under Changan’s NEVO brand in Pakistan, which is part of the automaker’s global portfolio of new-energy vehicles.

According to MCML, the company moved from equipment installation to production rollout in less than 90 days, establishing a dedicated body-on-frame assembly line for REEV pickups at its Karachi facility.

The Hunter was unveiled earlier in October at Changan’s The Next Leap event.

NEVO Hunter powertrain, battery and driving range

The Hunter uses a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) system in which electric motors drive the wheels, while a petrol engine generates electricity to support the battery and extend driving range.

Its dual-motor powertrain produces a claimed combined output of 322 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque, allowing the pickup to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The vehicle is equipped with a 31.18 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery featuring an IP68 waterproof rating and five-layer protection.

According to Changan’s Pakistan specifications, the battery provides a claimed pure-electric driving range of 131 km under the NEDC test cycle. The company also lists a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine as the range extender, allowing the vehicle to continue operating beyond its battery-only range.

Charging and vehicle-to-load capability

The NEVO Hunter supports maximum AC charging power of 6.6 kW and DC charging power of 41 kW. DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, according to the company.

Its 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system allows the pickup to supply electricity to external equipment, including appliances and tools used at worksites or during outdoor activities.

MCML says the vehicle can provide up to 227 kWh of energy under full-fuel and full-battery conditions, enough to power a 1,000-watt setup for more than nine days.
