Fatima Fertilizer becomes first Pakistani company to adopt UNDP’s SDG Impact Framework

Fatima Fertilizer has marked a significant milestone in the corporate sector by becoming the first company in Pakistan to adopt the United Nations Development Program’s (UNDP) SDG Impact Framework.

The company’s collaboration with UNDP aims to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its core business strategies, promoting sustainable practices across its operations.

The announcement was made during the launch of a special report titled “SDGs Impact through Businesses: Sustainability Framework for Fatima Fertilizer,” which outlines how the company has integrated the SDG Impact Framework into its business model. The framework focuses on eight key areas, aligning the company’s objectives with critical UN SDGs related to sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and social responsibility.

The event brought together prominent figures from the government, development sectors, private enterprises, and sustainability experts, who applauded Fatima Fertilizer’s leadership in corporate sustainability. Among the key speakers, Rabel Sadozai, Director of Marketing and Sales at Fatima Group, emphasized the importance of the framework, stating, “This sustainability framework will strengthen our resolve and inspire us to further accelerate our efforts in sustainable development.”

Dr. Samuel Rizk, UNDP Pakistan’s Resident Representative, also praised the initiative, calling it a groundbreaking step that demonstrates how businesses can balance financial growth with positive societal impact. He noted, “Fatima Fertilizer’s voluntary development of this reporting framework shows that businesses can thrive while also contributing to the well-being of society.”

Asad Murad, Chief Operating Officer of Fatima Fertilizer, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to national and global sustainability goals, emphasizing that the company’s efforts will focus on improving food security, environmental sustainability, and empowering women in the agriculture sector.

The event was graced by Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research, who lauded Fatima Fertilizer’s efforts. “This report is a testament to how businesses like Fatima Fertilizer can drive transformative change by aligning their operations with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals,” he remarked. “By adopting innovative and sustainable practices, we can address food security challenges and create a greener, more equitable future for Pakistan.”

Through this partnership with UNDP, Fatima Fertilizer has set an example for other businesses in Pakistan, showcasing how the private sector can contribute to national development while meeting the global sustainability agenda.
