Diplomats expressed shock and send prayers for the victims of Karachi terror attack
The foreign diplomats in Pakistan expressed shock and sadness at the terror attack in Pakistan’s financial hub, Karachi, which killed at least four people and wounded several on Monday.
Security forces killed all four terrorists who attempted to storm the Pakistan Stock Exchange building with grenades and automatic rifles. Three security guards and one police inspector lost their lives in the Karachi attack.
The embassy of China in its official message condemned the attack and offered condolences to the innocent victims and wish the wounded an early recovery. “We oppose terrorism in any form and firmly support Pakistan’s efforts in fighting terrorism and safeguarding the nation” the message read.
Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the heinous terrorist attack and saying “We are saddened by the news of the deadly terror attack that targeted the Pakistan Stock Exchange Building in Karachi”. The statement further wished “Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, speedy recovery to the injured” and conveyed condolences to the government and brotherly people of Pakistan.
The ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan Mustafa Yurdakul also wished Pakistan best in his tweet:
In its official message on Twitter, the United States (U.S.) embassy condemned the “cowardly attack” and said: “We stand with Pakistan in fighting terrorism and in ensuring the perpetrators face the full measure of justice.”
The French embassy in Pakistan, on its official page, condemned the terrorist attack that killed and wounded several security personnels and civilians. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr Christian Turner, called it an appalling attack. “My thoughts, on behalf of Pakistan’s British friends, are with the victims & their loved ones. Pakistan will be stronger, not destabilized, as a result” he said.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Ali Alizada, said he was “very saddened to know the security guards and a police sub-inspector laid down their lives foiling this terrorist attack to #PSX.”
Canada‘s High Commissioner to Pakistan Wendy Gilmour expressed shock and sent her prayers to the police and security forces.
European Union Ambassador, Androulla Kaminara, said: “Nothing justifies killing innocent lives. My condolences to the families that lost loved ones and wishing speedy recovery for the injured.”
Ambassador of Japan, Matsuda Kuninori, condemned the militants’ attack and expressed his profound condolences and sympathies. “My thoughts and prayers for the families of the victims of this gruesome incident. Terrorism is condemnable in all its forms and manifestations.” He termed the attack at “the center of economic activity” a very “unfortunate incident” at a time when Pakistan was moving fast towards strengthening peace and stability. He added that the Government of Japan is committed to continuing to support the Government of Pakistan and its security forces to combat terrorism.
Australia‘s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Dr Geoffrey Shaw, offered “deep condolences to the families and friends of the victims” and wished “speedy recovery” to those injured.
German Ambassador to Pakistan, Bernhard Schlagheck, said: “Nothing ever justifies terror! My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of killed security guards and policemen.”
Ambassador of Norway to Pakistan, Kjell-Gunnar Eriksen, in his message said: “Norway condemns the attack on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. My warmest condolences to the victims and their loved ones.”
Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, Rolf Holmboe, praised the effort by the security guards and Sindh Police who successfully foiled the attack and saved many lives. “My thoughts & compassion are with the victims and their families!”
