Helicopter crashed due to technical reasons during a casualty evacuation operation in GB
At least four soldiers including two pilots lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the northern areas of the country, the army confirmed on late Saturday.
The Pakistan Army Aviation helicopter crashed during a casualty evacuation in the Minimarg area of Astore district in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The helicopter crashed due to technical reasons during the casualty evacuation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military chopper was evacuating the body of a shaheed soldier, Abdul Qadeer, to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Skardu.
The GB Information Minister Fatullah Khan extended deepest condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers and acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army for the country.
The officers and soldiers who embraced martyrdom were identified as:
- Pilot Major M. Hussain
- Co-pilot Maj Ayaz Hussain
- Naik Inzimam Alam
- Sepoy Muhammad Farooq
Major Hussain belonged to Skardu, Major Ayaz to Karachi, Naik Inzimam hailed from Chakwal while Sepoy Farooq from Sahiwal.
