In a terrible incident, an eight-month-old boy died on his way to the hospital after being stuck in the worst traffic in Islamabad due to a rally by a religious group.
Hassan Bilal was being taken by his parents from Jinnah Gardens to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Wednesday evening when the family got stuck in traffic.
The infant’s family could not reach PIMS last night because of roadblocks put in place due to a joint rally being held by the Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY) and the Sunni Tehreek (ST).
The child was taken to a nearby private hospital, Rawal General and Dental Hospital on Lehtrar Road.
But soon afterward, the child died at the private medical facility at 10:20pm with the doctors declaring cardiopulmonary arrest as the cause of his death. “My son died in front of mine and his mother’s eyes,” his father wailed.
On Thursday, Islamabad police registered an ‘unintentional murder’ case First Investigation Report (FIR) against sectarian outfit Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah leader Khadim Rizvi in a case pertaining to the death of an infant.
In the FIR, the child’s father alleged that the infant’s life could have been saved if they had reached the hospital in time.
The capital administration and police’s wait-and-see attitude to the rally by the religious groups paralyzed the capital on 8 Nov. 21017, allowing the rally to enter the capital and later occupy Faizabad Bridge.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi witnessed worst traffic jam
Twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Wednesday witnessed worst traffic jam because of the negligence of city authorities.
The main roads including Islamabad Expressway, IJ Principal Road, Murree Road were closed for all sort of traffic as long lines of traffic queues were seen on these roads. On the other hand great traffic rush was witnessed on Murree Road from Faizabad to Dhokri Chowk.
The rally is being held to protest a lack of punishment for those involved in making already reversed changes to the Khatm-i-Nabuwat declaration for electoral candidates.
Islamabad administration was severly criticized by citizens over its incompetence to deal with a small group of people. This is how people reacted on Twitter after getting stuck in traffic:
Islamabad is paralysed due to a religious group’s protest and it’s participants are not in huge numbers. Even then capital admin has not been able to manage the subsequent traffic snarl, leading to public woes. All traffic police did was to ensure easy entry of protesters in isb

This should probably be the worst traffic jam of twin cities. Returned back to Islamabad after being stuck for 2 hours in the jam.
