Islamabad Government Schools introduce ‘No Bag Policy’ for primary students

In a move aimed at easing the burden on young students, government primary schools across the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) will implement a new policy starting August 1. Under this initiative, students will no longer be required to carry school bags to and from school.

Instead, classrooms will be equipped with pigeon holes and book racks where students can store their textbooks and school materials. This student-friendly approach seeks to create a more convenient and healthier learning environment by reducing the weight of heavy school bags.

Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani expressed his enthusiasm for the new policy, which has been in the works for over a month. He highlighted that the initiative will positively impact both students and parents, fostering happier young learners in the capital.

“We are finalizing all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth transition when schools reopen,” Secretary Wani affirmed in an interview with Dawn. He emphasized that the initiative aims to bring a smile to the faces of young learners and alleviate the physical strain associated with carrying school bags.

The introduction of the ‘no bag policy’ underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the educational experience in Islamabad’s primary schools, promoting a more child-friendly approach to learning.

This development comes amidst ongoing efforts nationwide to improve educational standards and conditions for students.
