Islamabad reported over hundred dengue cases on a second consecutive day, as the number of dengue-infected patients in the city surged to 1,342.
The federal capital reported 113 new cases of dengue fever on Tuesday, while five patients succumbed to death during the last 24 hours. Tuesday was the third time in the current season when over 100 active cases of dengue were reported in 24 hours.
Islamabad District Health Officer Zaeem Zia told the media that currently over 200 dengue patients were being treated in different hospitals in twin cities.
“Around 219 dengue patients are currently under treatment at various hospitals in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad while 629 people have recovered and been discharged so far,” told District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Zaeem Zia. Besides, around 599 dengue patients have also been brought in the OPDs of the hospitals.

The current statistics of dengue-infected patients reported in various hospitals of the capital as per the DHO are given below:
- 396 cases of the virus were brought to Holy Family Hospital (HFH)
- 88 cases brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH)
- 21 to Rawalpindi District Head Quarters (DHQ)
- 56 to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS)
- 65 to Polyclinic Hospital (PCH)
- 175 to the Federal General Hospital (FGH)
- 22 to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) hospital
The DHO said that over 450 infected residents of Islamabad visited private hospitals and laboratories in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He also mentioned that 896 cases were reported in rural areas of the federal capital, while 447 emerged from urban areas.

- Total 165 dengue-infected patients
- 101 are positive out of the total infected patients
- Till now 1,191 citizens have been infected by the virus
- 1,110 of the total infected patients made a full recovery.
Anti-dengue drive in Rawalpindi
Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Executive Officer Omar Farooq said the anti-dengue drive has been expedited taking into view the fact that the cantonment areas of the garrison city are among the hardest-hit.
He further said that the surveillance operations are being sped up. A dengue ward with all required facilities has also been set up in Cantonment General Hospital (CGH).
