Pakistan’s outgoing federal government, on the last day of its term, unveiled a plan of developing an Olympic Village in Islamabad, promising a beacon of excellence for athletes and enthusiasts along with revolutionizing sports facilities in the nation.
The decision to construct an international standard Olympic Village, focusing on sports promotion and youth facilities, was taken during a meeting led by the outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
A budget of Rs3 billion was allocated for the project. The Olympics village, covering an area of 1,200 kanals is seen to redefine the city’s landscape.
“The majority of Pakistan’s population consists of young individuals, and sports activities offer them a positive avenue to harness their energy,” said Sharif.
“The construction of the village will include a corporate structure and will be overseen by experts in the field,” emphasized the prime minister.
The premier further expressed his profound insights on the initiative. He highlighted that the dynamic youth demographic of Pakistan stands to gain immensely from the range of sports activities. Channeling their exuberance into constructive avenues is a paramount objective of this project.
He issued clear directives to the relevant authorities and stakeholders, urging them to craft an all-encompassing blueprint for the venture’s fruition.
