During the last 24 hours, 354 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the twin cities
The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad and Rawalpindi appear to be constantly lowering, according to government officials. Therefore, the Punjab’s provincial government is mulling over allowing restaurants to reopen under strict guidelines requiring fewer dine in guests than the capacity at a given time. The restaurants will likely reopen on July 15.
During the last 24 hours, 354 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the twin cities while only 116 new patients tested positive. Currently, there are over 5,200 active cases in the region while over 13,000 have fully recovered. Four patients also succumbed to the virus, taking the toll to 382 in the twin cities.
The daily analysis of number of recovered cases is encouraging as it shows a constant increase in patients get healthy. At the same time, the graph for new positive cases shows a downtrend. The number of daily deaths have also been in single digit in the federal capital for a while now, showing that the virus is well contained for now.
The District Health Officer for Islamabad said that the number of cases is going down with only 63 cases being investigated today.
The decrease in the number of coronavirus cases in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi is highly encouraging. The adoption of targeted closures of areas with high concentration of coronavirus cases has paid dividends. However, experts fear that people may not follow the SOPs on Eid-ul-Azha which can lead to a spike in the number of cases.
