Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education (PAGE) and the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad on December 5, marking the beginning of a significant collaboration to empower young women and girls throughout Pakistan.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of PMYP, Syeda Amnah Batool, Member of the National Assembly and Focal Person for the Green Youth Movement, and Fajer Rabia Pasha, Executive Director of PAGE, along with other dignitaries from both organizations.
This collaboration is aimed at addressing some of the most pressing challenges faced by women and girls, particularly in underserved regions, by promoting skills development, digital inclusion, and resource mobilization. By leveraging the collective expertise and resources of both PAGE and PMYP, the initiative seeks to provide young women with the necessary tools to succeed in the workforce and contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s development.
The agreement focuses on empowering female students by enhancing their employability through critical skills such as communication, CV writing, interview preparation, and entrepreneurship. A key element of the partnership is the promotion of digital literacy. This will include the establishment of digital hubs across the country to offer resources and training on safe internet practices, boosting the digital skills of young women, and enhancing their job prospects in an increasingly tech-driven economy.
In addition to the digital inclusion efforts, the collaboration will focus on creating mentorship opportunities to bridge the gap between education and professional careers, ensuring that young women have the guidance they need to navigate the workforce successfully. Furthermore, PAGE and PMYP will engage both public and private sector stakeholders to mobilize resources and create employment opportunities for women entering the workforce.
At the signing ceremony, PAGE Executive Director Fajer Rabia Pasha underscored the transformative impact of this partnership, emphasizing its potential to create a generation of financially empowered, resilient women capable of leading Pakistan towards a more equitable future. She stressed that this initiative will play a pivotal role in reducing gender disparities in education, employment, and leadership.
Chairman of PMYP, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of this collaboration in ensuring the active participation of young women in Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He affirmed that this partnership embodies a shared vision of fostering youth development, particularly by uplifting women in rural and underprivileged areas.
The initiative will also collaborate with local and international organizations such as the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and King’s Trust International, ensuring its success and sustainability. Through this collaboration, PAGE and PMYP aim to create lasting change by providing young women with access to education, skills, and employment opportunities, fostering an inclusive future for all.
