The National University of Technology (NUTECH) celebrated its 3rd Convocation Ceremony at its Islamabad campus, where 164 graduates from the fields of Engineering, IT, and Technology were awarded their degrees.
The event, held at the university auditorium on December 5, 2024, was a momentous occasion for students, their families, and the academic community.
The ceremony was graced by the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who served as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and a distinguished group of guests, including the proud parents of the graduating students.
Lieutenant General (R) Moazzam Ijaz, Rector of NUTECH, warmly welcomed the attendees. In his speech, General Ijaz briefed the audience on NUTECH’s journey and its commitment to producing well-rounded professionals who are equipped with both technical expertise and ethical values to contribute positively to society. He expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates and encouraged them to utilize their skills and knowledge for the betterment of the nation.
The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of top achievers, with Gold and Silver Medals presented to the highest performing students in their respective disciplines. These awards were a testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence demonstrated by the graduates throughout their academic journey at NUTECH.
Pakistan’s first “University for Industry”
In his address, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui congratulated the graduates, emphasizing the importance of innovation and leadership in shaping Pakistan’s future. He acknowledged the growing global recognition of NUTECH, which is Pakistan’s first “University for Industry,” highlighting its role in fostering a strong connection between academia and industry.
Dr. Siddiqui urged the graduates to contribute actively to the nation’s progress, saying, “The country has fulfilled its duty by providing you with quality education; now, it’s your responsibility to contribute to its development. This nation, built on an ideology, needs your efforts to shape a brighter future.”
Dr. Siddiqui also spoke about the growing importance of technological knowledge and skills in today’s world, stressing that those who excel in these fields not only progress individually but also contribute to the prosperity of their country. He commended the efforts of NUTECH in equipping students with the latest technical knowledge and expressed hope that the graduates would take Pakistan to new heights.
Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, who attended the ceremony as a guest of honor, also congratulated the graduates and acknowledged the university’s role in advancing higher education in Pakistan. He lauded NUTECH’s efforts in integrating industry-oriented education, which he believes will help bridge the gap between academia and the workforce.
