Dr. Mirza has mild symptoms and will self-isolate
Dr. Zafar Mirza, the special assistant to the prime minister on health, revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. Dr. Mirza, who is leading the fight against the novel coronavirus, will be self-isolating and taking all necessary precautions. He also applauded his team for continuing the good work.
A few days back, Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also tested for coronavirus. He is among a long list of politicians that have contracted the virus including opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif, Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, among others. Most of the politicians have recovered from the virus though some, including former Balochistan governor Syed Fazal Agha, have passed away.
A total of nearly 232,000 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Pakistan until now. More than 131,000 have made a full recovery with over 4,700 people passing away. The number of active cases in Pakistan at the moment is under 100,000.
