A memorandum of understanding was inked between Tekden Films with Ansari Films and TRT Films
After massive popularity of Turkish TV series Ertugrul in Pakistan, a historical drama about the role of Muslims of subcontinents in the Balkan Wars is in the initial planning phase and will be a joint production of Pakistan and Turkey. The drama, which will be called Lala Turk, is planned to be launched in 2023 simultaneously launched in both countries. Lala means elder brother in Pushto. Actors from both countries will take part in the drama.
Tekdin Films inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ansari Films and TRT Films. Veteran producer and actor Humayun Saeed and Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui will oversee casting and production decisions in Pakistan.
“We have started to write Lala Turk/Turki series scenario. First, we will prepare the script and then will begin shooting,” Kemal Tekden of Tekden Film said. He also feels that the series will further strengthen the bond between the two brotherly countries, Pakistan and Turkey.
“This series is very important where we will highlight the role of Muslims from sub-continent which they had played during Turkey’s war of independence,” Tekden added.
The Turkish team also met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad and the governor of Sindh Imran Ismail in Karachi among other dignitaries. Tekden thanked Khan for airing Ertugrul and Yunus Emre on Pakistani PTV and felt that such a historical series will help educate the youngster about the history of Muslims.
