There will be two weekly flights from Lahore to Skardu
PIA is trying to boost tourism at home as it just started flights between Lahore and Skardu. The first flight took place yesterday with 153 passengers on board. The total flight time is 1 hour and 15 minutes. A cake-cutting ceremony was arranged when the flight arrived at its destination. Flights between the two cities will be conducted on a weekly basis.
Gilgit-Baltistan tourism minister Raja Nasir Ali Khan thanked federal aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan and Pakistan International Airlines for the landmark achievement.
“I promise to take the tourism sector of Gilgit-Baltistan to new heights during my tenure as tourism minister,” he promised.
Earlier the flight operations for Swat were restored as well. Such measures from the national carrier will not only help boost tourism in Pakistan but will also take the airline in the right direction. Once COVID comes under control, more people will be looking to travel to the picturesque North of Pakistan and the demand for such flights is likely to increase.
