Saudi Arabia’s famous Al Baik Fried Chicken chain is coming to Pakistan

The renowned Saudi Al Baik Fried Chicken chain, celebrated for its crispy, spiced chicken and unique sauces, is set to open its first restaurant in Pakistan.

AlBaik, a popular Saudi food chain, is set to make its highly anticipated debut in Pakistan after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Gas & Oil Pakistan Limited (GO), according to a statement issued on October 11.

The collaboration with GO, a leading energy company in Pakistan, signifies a strategic move aimed at establishing AlBaik’s footprint in the country.

“In a pioneering step that reflects the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to enhance national exports and knowledge and open new horizons for Saudi commercial expansion globally, under the patronage of the Saudi Ministry of Investment, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Saudi company AlBaik and the Pakistani company GO,” the statement issued by GO revealed.

The MoU signing ceremony took place in Islamabad on October 10, 2024, with high-ranking officials from both countries in attendance.

The event was held under the patronage of Saudi Minister of Investment, Engineer Khalid Al-Falih.

“This MoU aims to explore the possibility of establishing a strategic partnership to set up and operate AlBaik restaurants in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as part of the company’s expansion strategy in Pakistan,” the statement added.

This development followed a series of agreements worth over $2 billion between Pakistani and Saudi businesses, witnessed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih. These agreements underscore the growing economic ties between the two nations.

GO, in which Saudi Aramco holds a 40% stake, is a major player in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector. The partnership between AlBaik and GO is not only a testament to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 but also part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen economic ties with key allies and attract foreign investment.

Al Baik restaurant

AlBaik, established in 1974 in Jeddah, is one of Saudi Arabia’s most popular fast-food brands. Founded in Mecca in 1974, Albaik has more than 47 branches across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other regions.

The restaurant chain is Saudi Arabia’s answer to the American brand Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Albaik, much like KFC, boasts a “secret blend” of herbs and spices that infuses its chicken with a distinct flavor profile that remains unmatched. While the fried chicken is a standout favorite, the brand has also gained a devoted following for its spicy nuggets and heaping portions of golden, crispy fried shrimp, making it a must-try for food lovers across the Kingdom.
