Vaccination centers to close only on first two days of Eid to give break to health workers
Vaccination centers in Pakistan will remain closed on the first two days of Eidul Fitr and open on the third day to benefit more people, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has said.
“As around 200,000 people are being vaccinated every day, it was therefore decided to reduce the holidays and call the healthcare workers to the vaccination centers on the third day,” the Ministry of National Health Services official said. “Many healthcare workers will be working in hospitals as their Eid holidays have been cancelled. So only a small number of healthcare staff would get the opportunity to stay home and celebrate Eid.”
The two-day holiday has been announced for the healthcare workers to give them a break, allowing them a chance “to observe Eid with their families.” Another reason is that the government does not expect a majority of the people to visit vaccination centers on the first two days of the festival.
Pakistan witnessed a decline in the number of casualties and new cases. Almost 113 people lost their lives to the virus in the last 24 hours whereas 3,084 tested positive in a single day.
