Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) plane brought a batch of one million doses of Sinovac vaccine to Islamabad from the Beijing Capital International Airport on May 9.
Another tranche of one million doses of Sinovac will reach Pakistan between on 13-15 May and another 1.5 million doses were expected by the end of May, 2021, according to NCOC.
With the latest arrival, the total number of COVID-19 vaccines now available in Pakistan has reached 11.19 million. The vaccines available in Pakistan include Sinopharm, Sinovac and CanSino.
Meanwhile, the Russian vaccine Sputnik V is currently being privately administered.
Pakistan on May 8 received the first consignment of 1.2 million Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility. It will be followed by another of 1.2 million – a total of 2.47 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca to vaccinate about 1.24 million high-risk people in Pakistan against the coronavirus.
