Xiaomi partners with Pakistani company to produces smartphones in Lahore
Xiaomi, the global smartphone giant, has partnered with a Pakistani company to produce smartphones in Pakistan and will be kicking off production this month.
The state-of-the-art mobile device manufacturing facility for the production of Xiaomi handsets in Pakistan is planned to be held on March 4, 2022, at Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Kot Lakhpat, Lahore.
President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi is expected to attend the launch ceremony of the production facility.
“This initiative is expected to generate a sales volume of $550 million per year while creating thousands of jobs in Pakistan,” Air Link said. This production facility is a step forward in the direction of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of ‘Make in Pakistan’ and will have a huge impact on Pakistan’s economy resulting in the export of locally produced Xiaomi mobile phones, the company added.

- Initially production of around 2.5 to 3 million Xiaomi phone devices annually

Xiaomi is a global technology giant with a current standing of 334 in the Fortune Global 500 companies. Xiaomi become the number two smartphone vendor for the first time ever in Q2 2021 surpassing Apple at that time and is currently number one in Europe and many other major markets. Xiaomi made a record 190.4 million smartphone shipments in 2021.
