Adjutant General GHQ Lt Gen Anwar Ali Hyder graced the ceremony as Chief Guest

National University of Science & Technology (NUST) awarded degrees to 400 graduate students of College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering during its graceful graduation ceremony of 23rd convocation.
Lt Gen Anwar Ali Hyder, Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Adjutant General, General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, honored the occasion as Chief Guest. A large number of faculty members, students, parents and other dignitaries participated in the ceremony.
On the occasion, 318 students from undergraduate and 112 post graduates were awarded degrees in their respective disciplines, gold and silver medals were awarded to outstanding graduates in academics and final-year projects.
While addressing the ceremony, Lt Gen Anwar Ali Hyder felicitated the passing out students and appreciated the College of EME for providing quality education in the disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Mechatronics Engineering and Engineering Management.
Chief Guest also appreciated the college for its focus on research and development both at undergraduate and postgraduate level and for the accreditation of its engineering programs by Washington Accord.
Lt Gen (retd) Naweed Zaman, Rector of NUST during his speech said that this was milestone achieved by the university graduates.
The President’s Gold Medal for best performance in postgraduate programmes was awarded to Engr Mavera Butt, Engr Saadia Ismail and Engr Sumaiyya Farooq in Computer and Software Engineering, Engr Kashif Akram in Mechatronics Engineering and Engr Syed Ashfaq Husnain in Engineering Management.
At the undergraduate level, the President’s Gold Medal was awarded to Engr Muhammad Usama in Electrical Engineering, Engr Mohammad Salman in Mechanical Engineering, Engr Anam Yasir Kiani in Computer and Software Engineering and Engr Muhammad Saad Bin Ubaid in Mechatronics Engineering.
Rector’s Gold Medal for outstanding contribution in the undergraduate projects was awarded to Engineer Alyna Ali Chaudhry in Electrical Engineering, Engineer Ume Zakheer in Mechanical Engineering, Engineer Tahreem Manaf in Computer and Software Engineering and Engineer Sikandar Riaz in Mechatronics Engineering. Chief of the Army Staff Gold Medal for Best Technical Cadet of the year was conferred upon Engineer Muhammad Hashir Akram.
Meanwhile, Best Teacher Award was conferred upon Lt Col Dr. Imran Shafi and Best Researcher Award was given to Assistant Professor Usman Qamar.
Lt Gen Naweed Zaman hoped that the graduating students would apply the knowledge and skills they had gained at their alma mater to make a difference in the lives of the needy and deprived segments of the society.
