People describe the union as a ‘symbol of Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship’
Pakistan and Azerbaijan friendship and people-to-people ties attained new heights as a young graduate of Azerbaijan recently married his Pakistani classmate.
Elvin Ismailov, a graduate of Azerbaijan’s Baku Higher Oil School, married a third-year student of the same department Masume Rizji, who is originally from
Pakistan on April 15, 2021.
The two are studying at Baku Higher Oil School’s (BHOS) Petroleum Engineering Department.
The wedding ceremony was held in accordance with the traditions of both
countries and a small number of close relatives of the couple attended it due to the COVID-19 ruled. Before the wedding ceremony, the families of the young people met each other virtually and blessed their union.
Pakistan‘s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee and Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov acted as witnesses at the wedding ceremony of the citizens of the two friendly countries.
The rector and the ambassador congratulated the young people and wished them a happy family life based on warm and strong relations, similar to those that exist between the two countries. The newlyweds were also presented with gifts by the officials.
Elvin Ismailov and Masume Rizji lived in the BHOS Student House during their
study at the university where they met and fell in love. BHOS’s director Elmar Gasimov’s announced all necessary conditions for the couple at the BHOS Student House so that they could continue living there.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan bond
Azerbaijani student Elvin Ismailov says that “the support provided to our country by Pakistan during the war was an example for them. It was these fraternal ties between the two countries that encouraged them to quickly formalize the marriage relationship.”
“This family is a symbol of unity of peoples with the same religion, the same traditions. We heartily congratulate these students, the groom and the bride, and wish them family happiness, happiness, long, healthy and prosperous life” wrote Ayaz Mirzayev, an Azerbaijan journalist, adding thar “this marrage is a wonderful example of brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.”
