CDA unveils plans for first-ever Adventure Park in Islamabad

In an exciting move to reimagine leisure and tourism in the capital, city authorities have announced plans to build Islamabad’s first-ever Adventure City Park — a landmark project aimed at transforming the city into a must-visit destination for both locals and international tourists.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Secretary Interior Mohammad Khurram Agha and attended by Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Member Environment, and other senior officials. The meeting, held at the CDA Headquarters, explored the project’s scope and identified potential sites for its construction.

urrently, the only theme park in the twin cities is Joyland Rawalpindi, an amusement park offering a variety of rides and attractions in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Vision to transform Tourism in Islamabad

According to a press release issued after the meeting, the proposed Adventure City Park is envisioned as a landmark project to elevate Islamabad’s status as a premier global tourist destination. While the final location is yet to be confirmed, sources suggest that an area adjacent to Lake View Park is under serious consideration.

Officials noted that the park is set to become one of the capital’s most attractive tourist spots, featuring walkways, cycling tracks, and a comprehensive suite of recreational amenities. The initiative will integrate eco-friendly landscaping, prioritizing both leisure and environmental sustainability.

CDA’s top priority: Tourism and Environmental Excellence

Reaffirming CDA’s commitment to enhancing the capital’s appeal, the meeting emphasized that promoting tourism in Islamabad remains a top priority. All necessary resources will be mobilized to realize this goal, officials confirmed.

“The project will be developed according to world-class standards of tourism,” said Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, who also stressed the importance of implementing a financially and operationally viable model for long-term success. He further added, “Steps are being taken to further enhance the beauty and tourist resorts of parks through visually pleasing soft landscaping and eco-friendly tree plantation.”

Sustainable Development at the core

In a significant directive, Chairman Randhawa instructed that the installation of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) be made an integral component of the project. This move underlines the authority’s focus on environmental sustainability, ensuring that Adventure City Park aligns with international green development standards.

The chairman also outlined the inclusion of national and international food outlets, cultural services, and recreational hubs within the park, aiming to provide a multifaceted experience for both local residents and international visitors.

In his concluding remarks, Randhawa reiterated the CDA’s unwavering resolve to further Islamabad’s development as a vibrant, livable, and globally appealing capital city. “We are determined to position Islamabad among the world’s most beautiful and tourism-friendly capitals,” he declared. As planning moves forward, all eyes will be on the CDA to deliver a flagship tourism project that not only enhances local amenities but also places Islamabad firmly on the global tourism map.
