England’s cricket team arrived in Karachi on Thursday on their first tour of Pakistan in 17 years. The squad comprising 19 players landed at Karachi airport via Emirates flight on Thursday morning.
The series with England, comprising of seven T20 matches, is quite vital as it would prepare Pakistani players for the T20 World Cup next month, said the PCB official.
England is the second high-profile team visiting Pakistan this year after Australia’s tour in February 2022 to play a Test match, three ODIs, and one T20 after 24 years.
Fool Proof Security
Pakistani officials on Wednesday said that they had made ‘foolproof’ security arrangements for the T20 series taking place in Karachi and Lahore.
“The Special Security Unit’s commandos will perform security duties along with personnel of other law enforcement agencies at the National Stadium in Karachi,” said deputy superintendent police Dr. Maqsood Ahmed while talking to the media, “sharpshooters will also be deployed at sensitive places” for the safety of the visiting team.
While assuring “foolproof” security, the DSP told that aerial surveillance will also be provided during the movement of the two cricket teams.
Ben Stokes Excited for the Upcoming Winter Test-series
English Captain, Ben Stokes is looking forward to another historic cricket series against Pakistan this winter which consists of 3 Test matches, scheduled in December 2022.
“[We must] Walk towards that danger of what Pakistan is going to throw at us. When we go to Pakistan it’s going to be a completely different environment. But we want to go there and keep continuing the form we’ve shown and the way in which we’ve played” Stokes said remembering the outstanding six out of seven test wins in summer for the first time since 2004.
